Our History
Katherine Lucas moved to Florida in September of 2008. Having already been a member of the Twisted Sisters Chapter of Women in the Wind (WITW) in Tulsa, Oklahoma for four years, she decided to transfer her membership to a local WITW Florida chapter.
After checking into the local chapters, she discovered that they were just too far away from her Kenneth City residence. So, after a year of settling into her new life in Florida, she obtained permission from WITW to start a new St. Petersburg chapter.
In September of 2009, five members joined Katherine in creating this new chapter. They completed their new-chapter probation and became fully-chartered on January 1, 2010, thus marking the birth of the Sun Angels Chapter of Women in the Wind.
One year after our chapter was organized, our group, desiring more autonomy, decided to say farewell to Women in the Wind and go solo. We then became an independent group and changed our name to: The Sun Angels Motorcycle Group.
